He Who Hurries Cannot Walk With Dignity
It has recently come to my attention ever so frustratingly that all of those little phrases of advice my parents give to me actually WORK. My father, genius that he is, has repeated to me many a time that "Ninety percent of all mistakes are made becuase you are rushing." and that "It takes half the time to do it slowly and right then to do it over." I never gave too much credence to these statements, and to quote Mystery Men (a great movie by the way), BIG MISTAKE! I have recently learned this lesson the hard way, when, after spending 3 days working on a project in shop class, I rushed and not only ruined the piece I was working on, but ruing my previous piece as well, seeing as it was holding the current piece. I must now spend an extra day re-machining the work holding attachment, as well as re centre-drilling my current piece, and remachining it as well. If I had not rushed, I could have spent an extra half an hour, maybe, and kept both pieces intact and accurate. BOY, am I kicking myself! Thus, I have decided to list some other inspirational/let-that-be-a-lesson-to-yo u phrases that I have heard over the years that were actually quite true.
- He who hurries cannot walk with dignity.
- Results are 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration.
- Stress will kill you, smiling will not.
- You meet the same people on the way up as on the way down.
- Measure twice, maybe thrice, cut once.
- Don't let idiots get to you. Just be confident in the fact that someday, they'll be serving you your burger.
That's all I can think of for now. I'll come up with more eventually and periodically update this rant.
Yours truly,
Jokash
